Obituary for Atha Merriweather

Mrs Atha Merriweather,82,of Cleveland,Ohio,daughter of Arthur and Eugenia Alexander ,born in South Carolina,on July 21,1937,went home to be with the Lord on Friday,April 17,2020. Atha accepted Christ at an early age and loved the Lord.Befo0re her illness,Atha faithfully served as a Mother on the Mother's Board at Olive Grove Missionary Church.She was delighted that member of Christ Temple Baptist Church visited her every first Sunday and consistently provided communion while she was in the nursing home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, only child, Jake Fludd Jr. and her sisters Irene Timmons, and Mamie Berry. Atha is survived by her daughter- in- law, Jackie Fludd, (Ohio) , grandson Jake Fludd III , granddaughter, Nevette Fludd, and great- grand daughter , Jailynn Fludd: siblings: Mary Alexander, caregiver of Cleveland Heights, Ohio ,Maggie Bull ( Arthur), of St. Matthews, South Carolina, Rachel Alexander , New Rochelle, New York , Dora Alexander, of Wisconsin, Benjamin Alexander ( Martha), of Fort Motte, South Carolina, a spiritual adopted daughter, Karen King and a host of nieces and nephews.
Atha loved her family and spending time with them especially while relaxing and sitting on the porch after a delicious meal. During her illness, Atha also enjoyed going for long rides and shopping with her sister, Mary Alexander. A special highlight of her day was when she would recite the 23rd Psalm to her sister through their daily phone conversations due to visitation rules because of the COVID-19 pandemic. She was employed by Honeywell for 25 years. She will be deeply missed by her family, church and friends.
