Obituary for Amir Latealf Williams

Amir Williams was born October 31,1979 to Mary Elma Brown and Fred Cook, Sr In Cleveland, Ohio. Amir was the sixteenth of eighteen children. In 1983 at the age of three, he was fostered by Florence and Melvin Fisher in Orwell, Ohio. Amir graduated from Grand Valley High School in Orwell, Ohio. During high school, he showed a passion for politics, the pursuit of knowledge and helping the community. After high School, he attended the University of Akron in Akron Ohio, where he briefly studied political science.
In 2011, Amir moved to Cleveland, Ohio where he met his wife Rachel ( Cotton) Williams. Rachel and Amir were married February 6, 2016 in Cleveland, Ohio. He went on to accept a position as an Administrative Assistant for the City Of Cleveland Water Department, where he worked until he departed this life
After being diagnosed with colon cancer in April 2017, Amir began to work with local political figures and the Cleveland Clinic Hospital to raise awareness about colon cancer and early detection for young African Americans males. He also worked with many political groups to inform Ward 7 residents (especially young resident) about the importance of voting. Amir served as a Precinct Committeeman for Ward 7 from 2016 to 2018. In addition to his advocacy, he was also an accomplished artist and had won several awards for his art creations.

Amir departed this life on Thursday, May 30, 2019. He is survived by his wife Rachel; his children: Eric, Seth,Amireanna and Tyianna; his siblings: Lafayette Williams, Jefferey Williams, Marvin (Sunday) Williams, Donald (Lorette) Williams, Fred (Tonya) Cook, Todd (Angela) Cook, Lisa Cook, Eric Cook, LaFear Williams, Lawondia Williams, Artivia Williams,Marys Williams, Tanika Allen, and a host of other relative and friends.
